The people of Sarasota say enough is enough. Police brutality amongst our fellow Black Americans will no longer be ignored nor tolerated by the citizens of this city. We don't just need change, we need a whole new system. We are petitioning Sarasota Mayor and Sarasota Police immediate adoption of Barack Obama's New Era Of Public Safety Advocacy for Fair Safe & Effective Community Policing. Let's rise together so the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Michael Brown, & other innocent lives lost at the hands of police brutality don't become just another statistic. Please post this petition link on all your social media accounts and text to everyone you know disgusted at the systemic racism that has gone on way too long.

In this “vital, necessary, and beautiful book” (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and “allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to ‘bad people’ (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves that white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent any meaningful cross-racial dialogue. In this in-depth exploration, DiAngelo examines how white fragility develops, how it protects racial inequality, and what we can do to engage more constructively.
Build Your Tribe Podcast Chalene invited 3 black business owners — Aprille Franks, Jamal Miller and Keenya Kelly — to give their thoughts on what we, as business owners and brands, should and shouldn’t be doing when it comes to supporting black people in our tribe.
